Based on seismic micro-zoning, probabilistic earthquake and extensive collection of the data of seismic geology, earthquake disaster prediction and countermeasure researches have been carried out within 89. 3 km² in the urban area of Dongguan City,  so that the analysis of earthquake damage on buildings (structure) and lifeline engineering under various intensity, the estimation of the affect caused by earthquake-induced disasters, and casualties and economic losses have been made out; the earthquake resistant capacity of the working area and Dongguan has been assessed comprehensively; earthquake disaster defending countermeasures have been proposed; and the GIS-based information management of earthquake prevention and disaster reduction and emergency response decision-making support system, information service system of earthquake prevention and disaster reduction and 3D visualization modules aboveground and underground have been developed.
