Evaluation of Karst Collapse Risks along Tunnels

The emergence of karst collapse severely affects the safety of tunnel construction, where as the tunnel excavation aggravates the occurrence of karst collapse and makes the mechanisms of karst collapse more complicated. Three factors such as the depth of tunnel, the water inflow of tunnel and the distance to the tunnel are selected to discuss the effect of tunnel excavation to karst subsidence. Taking Changjiling Tunnel for example, Fuzzy Mathematics Theory and the Analytic Hierarchy process are introduced. Fourteen factors, including the depth of tunnel, water inflow and so on, are selected to establish the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model. The risk zonation of karst collapse is obtained by combining GIS with programming. Predicting results can be used for the safety of tunnel construction and operation.
