Based on the development depth of geoheat resource, the authors classified the geoheat resource into four types: surface exposed spring,  shallow geoheat of less than 200 m,  medium shallow geothermal water as deep as 200 m to 3 000 m,  plutonic dry rock as deep as 3 500 m to 5 000 m. Jiangsu Province was characteristic of varied types of geoheat resource, complicated origin, unique distribution rules and developing properties. In which, shallow geoheat, medium shallow geothermal water and plutonic dry rock were of potential prospect in exploitation.
