摘要
Papua New Guinea, located in the joint of the Eurasian plate, the Indian-Austra lian plate and the Pacific plate, has experienced complex tectonic evolution pro cess since Late Cretaceous, forming a unique trench-arc-basin system and causi ng a wide development of supergene epithermal gold deposits genetically related with magmatic arc.The supergene epithermal gold deposits in this region can be divided into high-sulphur type and low-sulphur type.According to the differen t mineral compositions and minerization depths, the low-sulphur deposits can be further divided into four sub-types,i.e.quartz-sulphide sub-type,carbonat e-base metalsub-type,supergene epithermal quartzsub-type,and adularia-seri cite epithermal sub-type.Different sub-types of low-sulphur gold mineralizat ions are often superimposed each other, being extremely significant for formatio n of large-scale and super-large-scale gold deposits.
