Reservoir Characteristics of Wufeng Formation-Longmaxi Formation in Southwest of Sichuan Basin, China

     By the profiles gotten in the field work and using the methods of petrology, geochemistry, and petrophysics, this paper studies the reservoir characteristics of Wufeng Formation-Longmaxi Formation in the southwest of Sichuan Basin. The results are as follows. O The lower member of Wufeng Formation-Longmaxi Formation in the Leibo area is composed of black mudstone/shale rich organic matter, silty mudstone/shale, argillaceous siltstone, calcified mierite concretion containing radiolarian, dolomite mudstone/shale and calcareous mudstone/shale. @The TOC average content of the profiles is 3.81~//00. The type of organic matter is Type I and Type 1][ 1. The average value of Ro is 2.16%, and the evolution degree of organic matter is high. This benefits the generation of shale gas. The effective thickness of the black shale is about 60 m. @The brittle mineral content is high in the mudstone/shale. The TOC of the lower member of Wufeng Formation-Longma Formation is ~2~, and the content of quartz and clay is in the majority in the formation. The TOC of the upper member of Wufeng Formation-Longmaxi Formation is ~2%, and the content of carbonatite and clay is in the majority in the formation. The quartz has two sources, that is, terrigenous silt clastic and biogenic silica. @The micropores of the mudstone/shale can be divided into four types, that is, microfracture, organic matter pore, intergranular pore and intragranular pore. @ By analysing the relationship between the specific surface area, TOC and mineral composition, it is found that the TOC value in the Leibo profile shows negative correlation with the content of clay and positive correlation with the content of quartz and carbonatite. The main controlling factors of the specific surface area are TOC and quartz content.
