quot;EnChDivSummary" name="EnDivSummary">The eastern extension of Altyn Fault and the Qilian thrusting belt controlled the formation and evolution of Jiuquan Basin. This paper studies the function and range of the controlling of the Altyn Fault upon Jiuquan Basin,based on the interpretation and analysis of regional geophysical data. Our results indicate the movement and uplift of the Altyn Fault started in the Cretaceous, predating the Paleocene,and its eastern extension is considered to be limited within Huahai depression. The Altyn Fault defined the western boundary of Jiuquan Basin and controlled the structural features of its northern portion.
