This paper reports plant fossils and lithostratigraphic data from Jurassic coal measures in the Inner Mongolia axis and its southern margin. These fossils can be compared with plant fossils from Early-Middle Jurassic coal strata in Inner Mongolia area. The authors recognize a stratigraphic unit in the Early-Middle Jurassic Xiahuayuan Formation and regard it as a lateral equivalent of the Wudanggou Formation in Inner Mongolia. The coal measure overlying this unit is regarded as a lateral equivalent of the Zhaogou Formation in Inner Mongolia.
