•We quantify and economically value the main regulating and provisioning ecosystem services.•Water flow values are linked to market values using the residual value method.•Contribution of the main regulating and provisioning services to the national economy is US$ 52 million.•Integrated water resources management policy is expected to generate higher economic values of water.
