On page 9831, Z. M. Wang, Y.-L. Chueh and co-workers present wafer scale phase-engineered 1T- and 2H- MoSe<sub>2sub>/Mo core-shell 3D-hierarchical nanostructures, toward efficient electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction with excellent Tafel slope as low as 34.7 mV dec<sup>−1sup>, which is close to the theoretical value of 29 mV dec<sup>−1sup> dominated by a Volmer-Tafel reaction.
