Biomolecule cytochrome C absorbed to multiwall carbon nanotubes can form interface heterojunctions for high efficiency exciton dissociation, photo–electron transfer, and transport with high mobility. The extraordinary external quantum efficiency up to 38.2% obtained in the cytochrome C/nanotube infrared detectors illustrates that these photonic nanohybrids are promising for room temperature quantum optoelectronics. The work presented by Y. P. Gong, J. Wu, and co-workers in article number 1600478 opens up a new potential direction through nanoscale interface design for exploration of high-performance, low-cost, and flexible carbonbased optoelectronic nanohybrids.
