TiO2-supported Re (Re/TiO2) enables selective catalytic hydrogenation of carboxylic acids bearing aromatic and aliphatic moieties to the corresponding alcohols under mild conditions. Contrary to typical heterogeneous catalysts, Re/TiO
2 does not lead to the formation of dearomatized byproducts. Re/TiO
2 is recyclable as a heterogeneous catalyst and demonstrates a wide substrate scope with preparatively useful yields.
