Hollow magnetic-silica-bilayered microsphere was prepared by the ionic polymer sphere template. After calcination at 600 °C for 5 h, the hollow cobalt ferrite–SiO₂ hybrid spheres were formed. The hollow magnetic (CoFe₂O₄, 73 wt % )/silica (SiO₂, 27 wt % ) hybrid sphere was uniform and its thickness was about 50 nm. The hollow CoFe₂O₄/SiO₂ spheres exhibit a superparamagnetic behavior at room temperature.
