Efficient removal of dyes was achieved by using DEA-modified PA-TFC NF membrane.

DEA-modified PA-TFC NF membrane exhibited improved flux and fouling resistance.

Steady-state water flux to dye aqueous solution was increased by more than 37.0%.

Flux decline ratio in filtration dye aqueous solution was reduced by at least 35.0%.

Physical-cleaning efficiency of the dye-fouled membrane was effectively enhanced.
