Prior work has shown a causal role of parietal cortex in spatial grouping.

The use of large stimuli may have limited cortical involvement to parietal cortex.

Here we tested involvement of mid-level regions in binding with small stimuli.

Results show that only parietal cortex, not earlier visual regions, mediate binding.

This suggests that uniquely parietal cortex mediates size-invariant grouping.
