Novel nanoneedle-like CuO/nitrogen-doped reduced graphene oxide (N-rGO) is prepared by a simple method.

As a sensitive electrode material, it exhibited superior electrocatalytic activity toward glucose.

The excellent electro-catalytic property comes from the synergistic effect of N-rGO and nanoneedle-like CuO.

The electrocatalytic mechanism were proposed.
