Inclusion complex of a new probe LC shows fluorescence quenching (∼ 80% at 588.5 nm) with Cu2+ while LCCu2+ ensemble exhibits fluorescence enhancement (∼84% at 562.5 nm) with Cr2O72−.
The detection limits of fluorescent chemosensor LC to Cu2+ and LCCu2+ complex to Cr2O72− anion were estimated to be 10 nM and 0.8 nM, respectively.
The “On-Off-On” switching behavior of LC in the presence of Cu2+ and Cr2O72− ions mimic the function of a sequential logic circuit at molecular level.
The fluorescent chemosensor LC can be utilized in live cell imaging of Cu2+ and Cr2O72− ions respectively.
