We report a case of Mycobacterium marinum facial sporotrichoid infection in an otherwise healthy 2-year-old child, probably acquired through contact with pets in an aquarium. The M. marinum isolate was susceptible to clarithromycin, and the child was successfully treated with oral antibiotic therapy. This unusual case emphasizes the importance of a thorough history in the evaluation of a patient with chronic sporotrichoid skin lesions. (J Pediatr 1997;130:324-6)
