We developed a “green” corn stalk adsorbent treated by thiosemicarbazide–glutaraldehyde.

Adsorption mechanism of AgCli1−i could be electrostatic interaction with Csingle bondSH+single bondN and Cdouble bond; length as m-dashSH+ group.

The gel could selectively adsorb AgCli1−i coordination anion from the Ag(I)–Cu(II)–Ni(II) simulate nickel electrolyte.
