We evaluated the replication ability of novel H3N1 reassortants from quail in vitro. Reassortant viruses replicated efficiently in avian and mammalian cells. Reassortant viruses showed enhanced replication in human lung derived cells. Of the reassortant viruses tested, a P(NA,NS)-DK showed the highest replication ability. Quail can generate the viable reassortant viruses that replicated efficiently in vitro.
