Kenaf at the vigorous growth stage was sensitive to water deficit and needed adequate irrigation. The highest raw fiber yield and shoot dry mass was obtained at the combination of middle water level at the seedling stage and high water level at the vigorous growth stage and flowering and fruiting stage. Hybrid variety (Hongyou 2) should be planted under the better water and fertilizer condition, otherwise conventional variety (Fuhong 992) is preferred.
