An optimal cultivation method for F. nucleatum at empyema/lung abscess was varidated with 2 clinical cases. In vitro experiments was performed that clarifies the growth difference of F. nucleatum with several subspecies. Brucella based agar seemed to be more beneficial for isolation of F. nucleatum, rather than Columbia based agar.
