GLP-1 partially antagonizes AOPP-induced apoptosis in podocytes. The mechanism might be associated with interfering with the AOPP-RAGE axis. GLP-1 decreases oxidative stress and inhibits the downstream p53/Bax/caspase-3 apoptotic pathway.
