Baicalin and scutellarin increase glucose disposal in vivo and in vitro. Baicalin selectively activates AMPK, while scutellarin targets Akt. Baicalin and scutellarin differentially bind to the AMPK and Akt holoenzyme. Baicalin and scutellarin synergistically enhance glucose uptake in adipocytes.
