PLIN2 is known for playing a role in the accumulation of fat presumably by acting as a barrier to lipases. MsPLIN2 protein and mRNA levels change very rapidly when the availability of FA is increased or reduced. MsPLIN2 declined when lipid levels reached a maximum implying the occurrence of an alternative mechanism to shield TG.
