The photocatalytic activity of Ag/BiO4 for water disinfection under sunlight is assessed. Susceptibility of E. coli, E. faecalis and F. solani spores against solar irradiated Ag/BiO4 is evaluated. Photocatalytic efficiency of Ag/BiO4 is not affected by carbonates/bicarbonates from water. The presence of natural organic matter reduces the photocatalytic efficiency of the composite. The up-scaling of photocatalysis with Ag/BiO4 to pilot reactor is demonstrated.
