Synthesis of graphene-like ultra-thin nanosheets (thickness 2–4 nm) in polyaniline. Nanolayer to tubular transformation mechanism of polyaniline was revealed. Post-polymerization coating on nanosilica by simple ultrasonication process. Complications related to surface modification or pretreatment were avoided. Synergistic improvement in hydrophobicity for coated nanosilica composite.
