Tellurite bioreduction coupled to recovery of biogenic Te(0) nanocrystals. First report on continuous tellurite removal in a UASB reactor. Biogenic Te(0) was mainly associated with loosely-bound EPS of granular sludge. Repeated exposure to tellurite caused compositional changes in the EPS matrix.
