Activated carbon from bael shell (ACBS) was prepared and used for the removal of fluoride for the first time. Max sorption capacity was observed at 60 min contact time. Fluoride adsorption is due to electrostatic attraction. Fluoride adsorption occurred at pH of 6. Which is near to normal pH range of drinking water (6.5–8.5). The application of ACBS to treat the fluoride content ground content reduces the fluoride content upto permissible limit.
