A highly selective chemosensor for Cr2+ in aqueous solution has been developed. The chemosensor allows colorimetric, spectrophotometric and fluorimetric detection. The chemosensor was designed with rhodamine and coumarin moities. The chemosensor was prepared through a copper catalyzed click cycloaddition.
