One-pot direct coupling between coumarin and aniline to get indole fused coumarin. Reaction proceeds through cross-dehydrogenative coupling. Wide functional groups tolerance. The use of molecular oxygen as an oxidant makes the protocol more sustainable and environmentally benign. No additive/base is required.
