Few women have broken the glass ceiling to reach the chair of the Central Bank. There is no relationship between the level of human development and appointments. Tradition, religions and gaps in treatment between men and women are significant. A methodology to measure the gender’s role in central banking is proposed. Female central bankers are more conservative than their male counterparts.
