Emissions from burning incense were measured by a self-designed combustion system. Burning incense with a low H/C ratio increased PAH fractions in PM. Exposure of macrophage to particulate-phase PAHs caused increase in TNF-α and NO. Macrophage function and inflammatory were significantly influenced by PAHs of smoke. Burning incense with a lower H/C ratio content caused higher bioreactivity.
