An augmented nonlinear differentiator (AND) based on sigmoid function is developed. The noise-filtering capability for the existing differentiators can be significantly improved by using the present methodology. The convergence property and robustness performance against noises are investigated. Applications on autopilot design and displacement following for nonlinear mass spring mechanical system are given.
