Free vent boundary conditions for thermal buoyancy driven laminar flows inside open building enclosures

Restricted domain methodology reduces grids and computational time. Effective and robust free port BCs is proposed for full numerical simulations. Flow mechanism and pressure distributions at free ports are identified. Suitability and application of four free port BCs have been critically defined. Ventilation rate is a suitable criterion to validate the accuracy of the methods.
