The impact of supply chain competition on the optimal reverse channel choice is examined. Retailer-managed collection that leads to a higher return rate could be detrimental. Manufacturer-managed collection in one supply chain may arise in the equilibrium. There exists a prisoner's dilemma for manufacturers in two competing supply chains.
