Endogenous type I interferon (IFN1) plays a key role in suppressing tumor metastases. IFN1 regulates cancer cell migration, intravasation, survival, intravasation and colonization. Understanding IFN1 anti-metastatic properties can improve its use as a therapeutic agent.
