Experimental investigation of a new smart energy management algorithm for a hybrid energy storage system in smart grid applications

A smart energy management algorithm is developed for a hybrid energy storage system. The hybrid energy storage system consisting of battery bank and ultra-capacitor unit is investigated. Integration of 3-phase 4-wire inverter structure to smart grid is experimentally tested. The hybrid energy storage device has high power density, fast response, and high efficiency is proposed. The smart energy management control strategy has been verified on a laboratory test set-up.
