An integrated approach to optimise the energy consumption for metros is proposed. The substation energy consumption for metro system is optimised. Traction energy consumption and usage of regenerative energy are considered. All interstation coasting points and station dwell times are treated as variables. Monte Carlo Simulation is used to estimate the substation energy consumption.
