We studied the interaction of n-3 fatty acids with hormone therapy (HT) for incident depressive symptoms postmenopause. Graded, positive associations were found for n-3 fatty acids and depressive symptoms in HT non- users. There were no associations in postmenopausal HT users. The findings suggest menopause and HT status should be considered in the design of studies examining n-3 fatty acids for depressive disorders.
