Human dental follicle stem cells (DFSCs) were identified and characterized. Immunocytochemistry and RT-PCR revealed that 75% of the DFCs expressed OCT4. NANOG was weakly expressed on DFCs. This is the first study reporting neural crest stem cells in the dental follicle. The results suggest heterogeneous populations of stem cells in the dental follicle.
