P2X7Rs are involved in cell death, growth and cellular signaling in primary human osteoblasts

Cells derived from human trabecular explants express a functional P2X7R. These primary osteoblasts have a positive alkaline phosphatase activity. They are fully differentiated with the ability to form mineralized nodules. P2X7R mediates transcriptional regulation of osteoblastic markers. P2X7R is involved in propagation of mechanically-induced intercellular signaling.
