Pr3+ ions were extremely effective deactivating ions in CaF2 crystals. The NIR, up-conversion emissions were significantly quenched by Pr3+ ions. The lifetime gaps were dramatically shortened by Pr3+ ions. The CW laser performance was greatly improved after co-doping Pr3+ ions.
