Polymer encapsulation of SPIONs were synthesized using macro-RAFT stabilizers. Polymer encapsulation of aligned SPIONs in magnetic fields produced SPION nanorods. Monodispersed sterically stabilized crosslinked polymer encapsulated SPIONs were non-cytotoxic. Rhodamine labeled polymer encapsulated SPIONs were used for cell labeling.
