Cu and Au on γ-Al2O3 catalysts were prepared and characterized. Benzyl alcohol oxidation to benzaldehyde was performed by tert-butyl hydroperoxide in the absence of any solvent using the prepared catalysts. The as prepared catalysts exhibited good performance in terms of conversion and selectivity towards benzaldehyde. The kinetics of the reaction was investigated; kapp was proportional to the amount of nano catalyst and oxidant present in the system. The catalysts was recycled and reused with neither significant loss of activity nor selectivity.
