A short and efficient procedure for the preparation of triphenylene dicarboxylic imides. Having high clearing temperatures and broad phase ranges over 200 °C. Green light emission both in solution and solid states. Dependence of the mesomorphic behaviors and photophysical properties on the suitable peripheral functionalization of the discotic LCs.
