Transparent ceramics Er-KNNLB-x have been fabricated by pressureless sintering. The ceramics show good photoluminescence and electro-optic properties. The ratio of red to green emission intensities is sensitive to the host symmetry. The ceramics possess high MIR transmittance and broadband MIR emissions. The ceramics may be applied in displays, MIR solid lasers and optical attenuators.
