Monodisperse PbWO4 hierarchical microspheres were prepared by a hydrothermal route. The reaction conditions have effect on the morphology of the products. The PbWO4:Ln3+ exhibit characteristic multicolor emissions under UV excitation. This work may provide some insight into the design of other tungstate materials.
