Paleomagnetic results of the complete Ediacaran strata from five sections in northwest Tarim are reported. Primary remanence is obtained from the southernmost study area and extensive remagnetization is recognized in the northern area. A robust paleomagnetic pole at ∼625 Ma is obtained for Tarim Block. A new “missing-link” model and rift-related rotations during the breakup of Rodinia are presented. Dynamics of supercontinent breakup are likely governed by both deep mantle (plume) processes and subduction processes.
