Cognitive deficit in multiple sclerosis is associated with cortical T2* increase. Location of clusters of correlation varies upon affected cognitive domains. Global cognitive deficit was associated with T2* increase in deepest cortical layers. Executive dysfunction was associated with T2* increase in outer cortical layers. Regional T2* explained up to 20% of the variance of cognitive performance in MS.
