The strongly focused field with an off-axis vortex is analyzed. The ‘zigzag’ rotation of the vortex is explained by the topological conservation law. The transverse focal shift is inversely proportional to the distance of the vortex. The off-axis vortex has different effects on the Gouy phases on axis and off axis.
